NESP2. also known as neuroendocrine secretory protein 2 or GNAS complex locus-derived maternal transcript, is a maternally expressed imprinted protein encoded by the GNAS gene cluster on human chromosome 20q13.3. This genomic region produces multiple alternatively spliced transcripts through differential promoter usage and parental imprinting, including NESP55 (a neuroendocrine-specific protein), XLαs, and A/B isoforms.
