S1PR5 (sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 5) is a G protein-coupled receptor that binds sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), a bioactive lipid regulating immune cell trafficking, vascular function, and neural signaling. As the least characterized member of the S1PR family (S1PR1-5), S1PR5 is primarily expressed in natural killer (NK) cells, oligodendrocytes, and specific brain regions. It plays roles in immune modulation by influencing NK cell migration and retention in lymphoid organs, as well as in maintaining central nervous system (CNS) homeostasis, particularly in myelination processes.
