The histamine H3 receptor (HRH3) is a G protein-coupled receptor predominantly expressed in the central nervous system, where it regulates neurotransmitter release via presynaptic autoreceptors and heteroreceptors. Discovered in 1983. HRH3 plays a key role in modulating cognitive functions, sleep-wake cycles, and energy homeostasis.
