The PCDHB16 antibody is a specialized tool used to detect and study the protocadherin beta-16 protein, a member of the protocadherin β (PCDH-β) subfamily within the cadherin superfamily. Protocadherins are transmembrane proteins involved in cell-cell adhesion, neuronal development, and synaptic connectivity. The PCDH-β cluster, located on chromosome 5q31 in humans, comprises 16 genes (PCDHB1-PCDHB16) that exhibit cell-type-specific expression patterns in the central nervous system.
