The HTR2A gene encodes the 5-hydroxytryptamine 2A (5-HT2A) receptor, a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) primarily expressed in the central nervous system. It binds serotonin (5-HT), a key neurotransmitter regulating mood, cognition, and perception.
