CCN1. also known as cysteine-rich angiogenic inducer 61 (CYR61), is a member of the CCN family of matricellular proteins, which regulate cell-matrix interactions and cellular processes. Discovered in the early 1990s, CCN1 is a secreted, heparin-binding protein encoded by the *CCN1* gene.
