背景信息

Protocadherin alpha-5 (PCDHA5), a member of the clustered protocadherin-alpha (PCDHA) family, is a transmembrane protein involved in cell-cell adhesion and neural circuit formation. It plays a crucial role in establishing neuronal diversity and connectivity during brain development. The PCDHA cluster contains 15 variable exons (PCDHA1-PCDHA14 and a constant exon), with PCDHA5 encoding a cadherin-like extracellular domain, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail.
