PRR14 (Proline Rich 14) is a nuclear protein implicated in chromatin organization, transcriptional regulation, and nuclear architecture. First identified in 2010. PRR14 contains distinct structural domains, including an N-terminal coiled-coil domain, a nuclear localization signal, and a C-terminal proline-rich region, enabling interactions with chromatin modifiers and nuclear envelope components. Studies suggest it acts as a scaffold to bridge the nuclear lamina and heterochromatin, associating with HP1 (heterochromatin protein 1) proteins and Lamin B1 to regulate heterochromatin formation, gene silencing, and chromosomal stability.
