背景信息

The Absent in Melanoma 2 (AIM2) antibody targets AIM2. a cytosolic innate immune sensor critical for detecting double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) from pathogens or damaged host cells. AIM2 belongs to the PYHIN protein family and contains a N-terminal pyrin domain (PYD) and a C-terminal HIN200 domain, enabling dsDNA binding. Upon activation, AIM2 recruits ASC (apoptosis-associated speck-like protein) and procaspase-1 to form the AIM2 inflammasome, triggering caspase-1-mediated cleavage of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and IL-18. and inducing pyroptosis. This mechanism is vital for antimicrobial defense and inflammatory regulation.
