SPDL1 (Spindle Apparatus Coiled-Coil Protein 1), also known as CCDC99 or SPATA24. is a critical protein involved in mitotic regulation, particularly during the metaphase-to-anaphase transition. It localizes to the spindle apparatus and plays a role in ensuring proper chromosome segregation by contributing to the spindle assembly checkpoint (SAC), a surveillance mechanism that prevents premature anaphase onset until all chromosomes are correctly attached to microtubules.
