背景信息

The CCT5 antibody is a research tool designed to detect the CCT5 protein, a key subunit of the chaperonin-containing TCP-1 (CCT) complex. This complex, also known as TRiC (TCP-1 Ring Complex), is a molecular chaperone critical for the folding of cytoskeletal proteins like actin and tubulin, as well as cell cycle regulators. CCT5 (Chaperonin Containing TCP-1 Subunit 5) plays a structural and functional role in the ATP-dependent folding cycle of the CCT complex. Mutations in the CCT5 gene are linked to rare neurodegenerative disorders, such as hereditary sensory neuropathy (HSN1F) and distal spinal muscular atrophy, highlighting its importance in neuronal health. CCT5 antibodies are widely used in Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation to study protein folding mechanisms, cellular stress responses, and disease pathology. They also aid in exploring CCT5's interactions with misfolded proteins in conditions like Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease. Recent studies suggest CCT5 may influence cancer progression by regulating oncoprotein stability. Commercial CCT5 antibodies are typically raised against specific epitopes in human CCT5. validated for cross-reactivity in model organisms. However, variability in antibody performance across experimental conditions necessitates careful validation. Ongoing research continues to uncover CCT5's roles in proteostasis and disease pathways.
