MSL2L1 (Male-Specific Lethal 2-Like 1), also known as MSL2. is a key component of the evolutionarily conserved Male-Specific Lethal (MSL) complex. In Drosophila, the MSL complex mediates dosage compensation by upregulating transcription of the single male X chromosome through histone H4 lysine 16 acetylation (H4K16ac). In humans, the homolog MSL2L1 retains functional conservation, participating in chromatin modification and transcriptional regulation.
