**Background of Recombinant Human OR7D2 Protein**  


OR7D2, a member of the olfactory receptor (OR) family, belongs to the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily. It is encoded by the *OR7D2* gene, located on human chromosome 19. Olfactory receptors detect odorant molecules, mediating sensory signaling in the nasal epithelium. Although OR7D2’s natural ligand remains unidentified, it is hypothesized to recognize specific volatile compounds, contributing to odor perception.  


Recombinant OR7D2 protein is artificially produced using heterologous expression systems (e.g., HEK293 or insect cells) to study its structure, ligand-binding properties, and downstream signaling.
