背景信息

The ACVR2A antibody targets Activin Receptor Type-2A (ACVR2A), a transmembrane serine/threonine kinase receptor belonging to the TGF-β superfamily. ACVR2A plays a critical role in mediating signaling pathways activated by ligands such as activins, growth differentiation factors (GDFs), and bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs). Upon ligand binding, ACVR2A forms a complex with type I receptors (e.g., ALK4 or ALK7), triggering phosphorylation of downstream SMAD proteins (SMAD2/3) and regulating gene expression involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and immune responses. Dysregulation of ACVR2A signaling is linked to pathologies, including fibrosis, cancer, and metabolic disorders.

ACVR2A antibodies are essential tools for studying receptor expression, localization, and function. They are widely used in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry to investigate ACVR2A's role in developmental biology, tissue homeostasis, and disease mechanisms. In therapeutic research, ACVR2A antibodies are explored for modulating aberrant signaling in conditions like muscular dystrophy or cancer. For instance, inhibiting ACVR2A may counteract excessive activin signaling in muscle wasting. Additionally, ACVR2A antibodies aid in biomarker discovery and evaluating receptor dynamics in response to targeted therapies. Their specificity and versatility make them valuable in both basic research and translational applications.
