背景信息

HDLBP (High-Density Lipoprotein Binding Protein), also known as vigilin or SPAP, is a multifunctional RNA-binding protein encoded by the HDLBP gene. It is widely expressed in human tissues, particularly in the liver, and plays diverse roles in cellular processes, including cholesterol metabolism, RNA stabilization, translation regulation, and antiviral defense. Structurally, HDLBP contains 14 tandemly repeated K-homology (KH) domains, which mediate its interactions with RNA and other macromolecules. Initially identified for its ability to bind high-density lipoprotein (HDL), it was later found to associate with cytoplasmic RNA granules, such as processing bodies (P-bodies) and stress granules, influencing mRNA stability and protein synthesis.

HDLBP antibodies are essential tools for studying its localization, expression patterns, and molecular interactions. They are widely used in techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation to investigate HDLBP's involvement in diseases such as atherosclerosis, cancer (e.g., leukemia, hepatocellular carcinoma), and neurological disorders. Dysregulation of HDLBP has been linked to altered lipid metabolism, tumor progression, and viral infection responses. Research also explores its role in aging and cellular stress adaptation. Commercial antibodies typically target specific epitopes within the KH domains or C-terminal regions, enabling precise detection across experimental models.
