Anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome subunit 4 (APC4 or ANAPC4) is a critical component of the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C), a multi-subunit E3 ubiquitin ligase essential for regulating cell cycle progression. The APC/C controls the transition from metaphase to anaphase during mitosis and the exit from mitosis by targeting specific substrates, such as securin and cyclin B, for ubiquitin-mediated degradation via the 26S proteasome. This degradation removes inhibitory signals, enabling sister chromatid separation and mitotic exit.
