The human OR9A4 protein, encoded by the olfactory receptor gene OR9A4, belongs to the class A G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily and is a member of the olfactory receptor (OR) subfamily. Olfactory receptors play critical roles in detecting odorants and mediating signal transduction in olfactory sensory neurons. OR9A4 is located on chromosome 7 (7q35) and shares structural features typical of ORs, including seven transmembrane domains and ligand-binding pockets.
