SMC1L1 (Structural Maintenance of Chromosomes 1-like 1), also known as SMC1A, is a key component of the cohesin complex, a multi-subunit protein machinery essential for chromosome organization and genomic stability. Belonging to the SMC protein family, SMC1A forms a heterodimer with SMC3. creating a V-shaped structure that interacts with RAD21 and STAG1/STAG2 to form a ring-like complex.
