ELAM1 (E-selectin ligand 1), also known as CD62E ligand or E-selectin ligand-1. is a cell surface glycoprotein that plays a critical role in mediating leukocyte adhesion to activated endothelial cells during inflammatory responses. It belongs to the selectin family of adhesion molecules and is primarily expressed on vascular endothelial cells upon activation by cytokines such as TNF-α or IL-1β. ELAM1 facilitates the initial tethering and rolling of circulating leukocytes along the blood vessel walls, a pivotal step in leukocyte extravasation into inflamed tissues.
