背景信息

The TEK antibody targets the TEK receptor tyrosine kinase, also known as TIE2 (Tyrosine kinase with Immunoglobulin-like and EGF-like domains 2), a key endothelial cell-specific receptor involved in vascular development and homeostasis. Discovered in the early 1990s, TIE2 binds angiopoietins (Ang1. Ang2), regulating blood vessel maturation, stability, and remodeling. Dysregulation of TIE2 signaling is linked to vascular anomalies, tumor angiogenesis, and cardiovascular diseases. TEK antibodies are essential tools for detecting TIE2 expression in endothelial cells via techniques like immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, or Western blot. They help elucidate TIE2's role in pathological angiogenesis, including cancer progression, where TIE2-expressing macrophages in the tumor microenvironment promote immunosuppression and metastasis. Clinically, TEK antibodies have therapeutic potential; for example, in venous malformations caused by somatic TIE2 mutations, they may inhibit aberrant signaling. Research also explores TIE2 as a biomarker for anti-angiogenic therapy response. Overall, TEK antibodies bridge basic vascular biology and translational applications, offering insights into disease mechanisms and therapeutic targeting.
